Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment have hired Darryl Quarles to write a remake of 1969 Don Knotts comedy, The Love God?. Quarles' previous credits include the Martin Lawrence's Big Mama's House and Black Knight.
Quarless says his updated version is about a guy who is the adopted son of a Southern small-town preacher and grows up in a very Christian family. When he gets older he finds he's the heir to a men's magazine empire and he has to come to L.A. and run it."
Quarles added that it's a very original, hip-hop take on The Love God?. Brian Grazer will produce the update.
